Charity golf event receives strong support from government technology vendors and local business community
MCLEAN, VA, October 18, 2005—immixGroup, Inc., a leading government business consulting and channel management company, today announced that the immixGroup Board of Advisors has raised $60,000 for the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. The check was presented at a reception following the 2005 immixGroup Board of Advisors Johns Hopkins Colon Cancer Center 2005 Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, October 17 at Lansdowne Golf Resort in Lansdowne, Virginia.
This year's fundraiser was made possible in large part through the generosity of its sponsors, which include:
The American Cancer Society estimates that about 145,290 new cases of colorectal cancer will be diagnosed in 2005, which averages to about 400 per day or one every 4 minutes. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed among Americans. The collaborative efforts of the clinicians and researchers at Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center have led to many advances in the early detection and treatment of colon and rectal cancer. These endeavors promise to translate into better treatment outcomes for all patients.
"From the creation of this event, our mission was to bring together organizations, friends and supporters to help raise capital and awareness for a very worthy cause," said Jeff Copeland, president and CEO of immixGroup, Inc. "It is with great appreciation that we thank the tournament's sponsors, players, volunteers and members of the executive planning committee for their overwhelming generosity and support to make this event a success."
"The Johns Hopkins Colon Cancer Center is a multidisciplinary program providing comprehensive diagnostic testing and multidisciplinary consultation services for patients diagnosed with cancer of the large bowel and those at high risk for developing cancer of the colon and rectum," said Michael A. Choti, MD at the Johns Hopkins Colon Cancer Center. "The generosity of immixGroup, its Board of Advisors, and the sponsors and participants in this event helps meet the financial needs of our center so we can focus our attention on research and patient education. With the help of this generous contribution, the message that colorectal cancer is preventable, treatable, and beatable, will be realized."
immixGroup also announced the date for the 2006 Board of Advisors Johns Hopkins Colon Cancer Center Charity Golf Tournament, which is October 16, 2006.
