Disadvantage can be Advantageous in Federal

The Government leverages its purchasing power to support small and small disadvantaged businesses. The policy of supporting small business includes a number of different programs commonly referred to by acronyms such as SBC, SDB, 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, VOSB, SD-VOSB, VSB and ESB. Each program has different qualifying requirements and different advantages. Sometimes the Government ends up paying more by buying from small business, but policymakers generally believe the socioeconomic benefits outweigh the extra costs.
