McLean, VA, Monday, August 5, 2013–immixGroup, Inc., which helps technology companies do business with the
government, today announced the addition of two independent members and an
advisor to its Board of Directors. Joining immixGroup’s board are Thomas B.
Newell, Executive Chairman at Signature Senior Lifestyle Ltd, and Nelson
Carbonell, President and CEO at Nelson Carbonell & Associates. Ron Police,
President at Ron Police, LLC, will serve as an advisor to the board. Mr. Newell,
Mr. Carbonell, and Mr. Police have served on various board positions and helped
numerous companies with growth strategies.
Commenting on their
appointments, Chairman of the Board Jeff Copeland said, "We are pleased to add
the talent, knowledge, and public company experience of these three executives
to our Board. We are looking forward to their contributions as we drive for
continued growth and seek opportunities to leverage our respected position in
the public sector IT market."
With the addition of Mr. Newell and Mr.
Carbonell, the Company's board of directors now consists of five members, two of
whom are independent members.
Thomas B. Newell
Mr. Newell serves
as Executive Chairman of Signature Senior Lifestyle Ltd. Prior to Signature, Mr.
Newell was involved in the development and operation of senior living
communities in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Germany for more than 13 years
within various roles for Sunrise Senior Living, including 7 years as global
president. Mr. Newell helped lead the growth of Sunrise from 33 U.S. communities
in 1996 to more than 450 communities, serving more than 50,000 residents in 4
countries, at the end of 2007. Prior to joining Sunrise, he was an attorney in
private practice for 13 years with the McLean, Virginia based firm of Watt,
Tieder, Fitzgerald, and Hoffar specializing in real estate, construction, and
corporate law. Mr. Newell was a partner and executive committee member in the
firm.
Mr. Newell currently serves on a number of Boards of Directors and
Advisory Boards for commercial and non-profit organizations. He received a J.D.
degree from the University of Virginia and a B.A., with honors, from Yale
University.
Nelson Carbonell
Mr. Carbonell serves as President
and CEO of Nelson Carbonell & Associates and CEO of Snowbird Capital, Inc.
Prior to starting Snowbird Capital, Mr. Carbonell founded Cysive, a software and
services company, and served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman
of the Board of Directors since Cysive commenced operations in 1994. With an
initial investment of just $10,000, Mr. Carbonell grew Cysive to $50 million in
revenue and 500 employees and took the company public in 1999. Prior to Cysive,
Mr. Carbonell served in management position at various U.S. government and
commercial technology companies including PRC, Inc. and TRW, Inc., both now
subsidiaries of Northrop Grumman.
In addition to various corporate and
non-profit board positions, Mr. Carbonell is Chair of the Board of Trustees of
George Washington University. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from
George Washington University graduating with distinction.
Ron
Police
Mr. Police serves as the President of Ron Police, LLC. Prior to
starting his own consulting company, Mr. Police served as Vice President for
Apple Inc. for seven years where he implemented strategies that resulted in a 50
percent increase in revenue and profitability, invigorated interest in the Mac,
and launched mobility solutions that helped transform the utilization of
technology by all levels of State, Local, and Federal Government. Preceding
Apple, Mr. Police spent 17 years at Oracle Corporation. During his tenure, Mr.
Police was involved in designing solutions through a period of rapid
technological advancement for some of the largest scale customer data problems
ranging from mainframe to client-server to the World Wide Web.
Mr. Police
received his Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from Penn State. He
has completed an executive studies program at the University of Virginia’s
Darden School of Business and leadership development programs at The Center for
Creative Leadership in Colorado.
