• New Administration and Disruptive Technologies Set Tone for immixGroup’s Third Annual Government IT Sales Summit

Federal IT Executives and Industry Leaders Discuss “Bridges to Growth” Amid Evolving Procurement Policies and New Revenue Models

McLean, VA, Friday, October 21, 2016–In the last two years, federal IT budgets have remained relatively steady at around $81 billion. How might a new administration affect federal IT funding—and what role will growth in disruptive technologies such as cloud, cybersecurity, and big data have on the federal IT procurement landscape?

Look for insights into these and other technology-related questions as federal IT executives, market intelligence experts, and industry leaders converge at immixGroup’s Third Annual Government IT Sales Summit, Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA.

The all-day industry conference, themed “Bridges to Growth,” is coordinated by immixGroup, an Arrow company, which helps technology companies do business with the government.

“Anything-as-a-Service” (XaaS) will be among the topics to be discussed during this year’s Summit, as cloud technology continues to gain traction in the federal government. (Some $2.6 billion was budgeted in FY16 on cloud alone.) Despite these new innovations, government spending remains conservatively skewed towards operations and maintenance, with close to 70 percent of IT dollars allocated to keeping existing systems working.

Nearly 40 speakers from the public sector and private industry will take part in panel discussions throughout the day, including the following current and former government executives:

    • Julianna Vida, Executive Partner, Gartner and former Navy lead for Cyber Security Policy and Authorities
    • Sonny Bhagowalia, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Information Systems, and Chief Information Officer, Department of Treasury
    • Claudio Belloli, GSA’s FedRAMP Program Manager for Cybersecurity Technology Transformation Service
    • Joseph Ronzio, Deputy Chief Health Technology Officer, Veterans Health Administration
    • Richard Young, Chief Information Officer, USDA Foreign Agriculture Service

(A full list of speakers is available at http://www.govitsalessummit.com/ehome/govitsalessummit/speakers/ig-pr-media-101916/)

The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Adam Steltzner, NASA team leader and the chief engineer who led the entry, descent, and landing of the Mars Curiosity rover. He’s also the author of the book, “The Right Kind of Crazy: A True Story of Teamwork, Leadership, and High Stakes Innovation.” In his book, he applies his NASA experience to understanding how organizational culture creates an environment for sustained performance.

Budget briefings begin first thing Thursday morning, with FY17 presentations by immixGroup’s team of analysts – the 12th year for the company’s budget briefings. Attendees will learn about top-funded IT opportunities across DOD and civilian agencies, including key technology priorities, organizational landscapes, and major acquisition drivers. Summit will also include a market analysis on state and local governments and education spending.

Several breakout sessions will be held throughout the day. Topics include the inter-relationship of cybersecurity, mobility, and the Internet of Things; the growing importance of open source; and the latest on the Department of Homeland Security’s $6 billion Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) cybersecurity program.

“It’s unusual to have so many public and private sector technology experts, industry executives, and IT vendors together under one roof to talk about where the federal IT marketplace is headed,” said Allan Rubin, vice president of marketing for Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions. “immixGroup’s Government IT Sales Summit is the only Washington D.C.-area event exclusively designed for hardware and software companies selling to the public sector.”

Early bird registration pricing ends Friday, October 21. Approved media and analysts will receive complimentary ticket to the Summit. Learn more at www.GovITSalesSummit.com
